Not every member in God’s family is surrounded by fellow believers encouraging them on the paths of truth. When faith is tested by life’s challenges, every believer can call on the help of our mighty God. “The LORD is my strength and my shield; my heart trusts in him and he helps me” (Psalm 28:7 NIV). For our persecuted brothers and sisters living in cultures of discrimination against Christians, whether by controlling religions or oppressive governments, holding fast to God is lifesaving. These believers live in confidence of the hope they have in Jesus while they defend their faith. They value the words of God, memorizing it as spiritual nourishment, especially for times when they are weak. They also value the words of prayer from other believers, confident of the power of the God who listens.
Let’s pray our family members who are struggling because of their faith:
Omniscient and loving Father, you see and know each of these children of yours as they live in hostile environments. You know their ways, and you know their thoughts (Psalm 139:2). As they daily surrender to you, sustain their faith by your truths and your Holy Spirit. As they read the Bible, please give them wisdom to understand your words and the ability to hide them in their heart. Bring your words to the mind of these believers as they represent you, endure opposition, and share your love. Your presence surrounds them and your hand is upon them (Psalm 139:5). May you be glorified in the lives they live to honor you.
When you use any of the Heart Training books, you’ll be praying weekly – and specifically – for a persecuted Christian.
