Perspective

What is your perspective on learning? Do you take pleasure in the process as you work toward the end result?

Whether or not you enjoyed your school days, you can enjoy the eye-opening wonders in this amazing world God created! I get excited learning new things. I marvel at how God weaves together so many aspects of the workings in this world and in ourselves.

Life experiences provide abundant lessons. As we go through both the day-to-day and the chapters in our lives, we are in a constant state of learning – mentally, emotionally, spiritually, and/or physically. Not all of this learning is enjoyable, and sometimes we think it is easier to stay naïve. Sometimes our situations cause tension, and in our struggles God’s discipline teaches us. It is helpful to keep focused on God’s love and how he sees both the big picture and the minute details of our lives.

Learning to have a godly perspective is valuable. Our perspective affects our thoughts, which affect our actions.

Think of a time you were concerned about a situation and needed to take confidence in someone else’s experience or point of view. That is how it can be with our heavenly Father. Trusting his perspective is key!

We can trust God because of all the ways in the past he has kept his promises, carried us through difficulties, and blessed us. His mercies abound. The Israelites were told to recount God’s works in their lives to their future generations – so that they would not lose perspective of the great God they serve!

As Immanuel, Jesus chose to share our human perspective. He dealt with people, suffered much, brought joy, knew loneliness, and endured difficulties. We can trust his perspective, because he took on flesh and shared in experiences like ours. Hebrews 4:14-16 gives us confidence that Jesus is our high priest who empathizes with our weaknesses, who experienced temptations and yet did not sin. So, we can approach God’s throne of grace in confidence to give us help in our times of need.

As we spiritually mature into who God created us to be, though the power of his Holy Spirit, let’s strive to keep God’s perspective as we grow in him!
