You are Valuable

Believing we are valuable makes a difference in how we live each day!

Can we even comprehend how important we are to God, our creator? Each of us is wonderfully crafted, having purpose before we even came to be. Psalm 139 beautifully depicts this. Think about the great lengths God goes to have a relationship with you and each person in your family.

Have you considered, especially if a parent, how your family’s worth is reflected by your actions? How do you allow God to be at work in your family? Each member - including yourself - is a unique creation, loved and valued by God, able to impact others for good.

When a child knows he is valued, he makes decisions which reflect that. This need not be in pride or disrespect, though, because he will also know that other people are as equally valued in the sight of God. Consideration of others, good manners, a positive attitude, and a hearty work ethic are some evidence that a child knows his worth, especially when it is rooted in God’s love.

If faith is noticeably “missing” from a family’s daily life, so is the standard measure of truth or value. Foundational, biblical truths should be the bedrock of family conversation and decisions. In order to combat the barrage of attacks coming from the culture nowadays, a family must be God-centered. When Christian values are swept under the rug, we are apt to see disillusion, disrespect, and despair. We see some of this playing out in lack of personal responsibility, defaming people, disrespecting property, degrading oneself, etc. When the value God places on individuals is disregarded, people devalue themselves and each other.

We each need to know God’s truths, be in relationship with him through Jesus, and allow the Holy Spirit to transform our hearts and minds. Growing in the Lord necessitates an investment of effort, time, and humility. God will work in us in ways that may be uncomfortable. He will bless and nourish us as we commune with him.

Time spent in the Lord’s presence is never wasted. Choose each day to put forth God’s truths and love in your family life. By sharing biblical wisdom, in mercy and truth, you can help guide your valuable children in God’s ways.
